March 2016 – Music Releasee Review

Posted on Updated on

March 2016 has been an outstanding month for new music, well and truly setting the pace for the rest of the year to come. Not only have there been strong single releases from Biffy Clyro And A Day To Remember, but also there could easily have been 6 or 7 album contenders for March’s release of the month.

Because we’ve been spoiled for new releases this month we have a Top 4, as it was too hard to choose only 3. Missing out on the top spots however were Heck with “Instructions”, Hacktivist’s debut album “Outside The Box” and Killswitch Engage’s “Incarnate”.

Whilst both Hacktivist and Killswitch had strong areas to both their albums, there was also too many areas which felt dud. Both albums lacked a spark to take it to another level. Killswitch Engage had too many filler tracks, leaving you bloated with too many mediocre metalcore riffs, whilst Hacktivist didn’t carry that raw spark from their EP’s. Whilst Hacktivist have improved in many areas releasing newer versions of fan favourites, you can’t help but feel all the hype leading up to this debut release, leaves you feeling stuck in the mud.

4th Place – Tonight AliveLimitless

You’ve got to admire a band that’ll risk it all in the name of creative freedom. Switching from their Pop Punk roots to attempt becoming a more arena rock-sounding band. Limitless see’s the Aussie five-piece take a wrecking ball to the sound they know and push boundaries through the use of cinematic synths, electronics, and different vocal styles allowing for skyscraper choruses.

Tonight Alive’s leap of faith has pulled off seeing the band entwine slick 90’s pop hooks, with power ballad crescendos. Jenna McDougall’s powerhouse vocals are what bring this record into its own with genre-spanning vocals on “Drive” to a more sexy yet delicate approach on “Human Interaction”. There is no barrier stopping this young woman. This album will see the band get their push to main stages at festivals and hopefully support slots at bigger arenas.

For Fans Of: No Doubt, Paramore, All Time Low, PVRIS

3rd Place – Brian FallonPainkillers

After spending a decade singing openhearted confessionals as front-man of New Jersey outfit Gaslight Anthem, Brian Fallon is turning down his amp for his solo debut full of acoustic ballads and mid tempo country songs.

Painkillers can be compared to the likes of Frank Turner and Bruce Springsteen by giving both acoustic and folk music toughness, injecting it with ferocity similar to Fallon’s Gaslight Anthem releases. Standout tracks come in the way of “Among Other Foolish Things”, “Smoke” and “Red Lights”. More importantly is how Fallon’s songwriting perfectly tells stories of his life, allowing him to accept himself and his past worries and woes, occasionally in the style of love letters.

There’s no telling what’s next with The Gaslight Anthem’s future uncertain due to hiatus. One thing is certain though, on the strength of Painkillers, Fallon’s transition to a solo career seems risk free, yet rewarding and prosperous.

For Fans Of: Gaslight Anthem, Frank Turner, Bruce Springsteen

2nd Place – Oceans Of SlumberWinter

Progressive metal at it’s finest. One of the most open-ended genres. Easy to fail and hard to master, this genre is almost like Pandora’s box. Each album needs multiple listens just to digest part of an album. When it comes off, it can lead to some of the most compelling music ever to be heard. This is the case for Oceans Of Slumber.

With female singer Cammie Gilbert at the helm, this highly talented woman creates hauntingly beautiful vocals that both attack and play alongside powerful guitar tones and drums. Gilbert gives Oceans of Slumber their own sonic identity, separating them from the prog metal pack, via an angelic voice, entwined alongside crashing thunderous riffs. Thus creating a truly dark yet embracing album.

Standout tracks that are indescribable (other than the fact you’ll be covered in goose bumps) are album title track “Winter” as well as “Nights in White Satin”, “Turpentine” and “Sunlight”.

Winter is destined to be one of the best albums 2016. The songs are memorable, the musicianship is incredible and you’ll hear something new with each listen. With some more listens Winter has the potential to be album of the year. Regardless of that, you can put your last dollar on them being the biggest breakthrough band of 2016.

Winter is a truly diverse enigma of craftsmanship that manages to sound fresh and unique in 2016.

For Fans Of: Opeth, Gojira, Black Crown Initiate, Dream Theater.

1st Place – Amon AmarthJomsviking

Viking metal is sadly the black sheep of the metal world. However with Amon Amarth finding their return to form, hope has been reinstalled. Jomsviking is the melodic death metal band’s first attempt at a concept album, telling both a revenge and love story of the Jomsvikings – legendary Viking mercenaries.

Many critics are saying this is the swede metaller’s finest release since Twilight Of The Thunder God and they are definitely onto something. Jomsviking is filled to the rim with powerful guitar riffs and heavy hitting drums. Jomsviking depicts all topics such as gory violence on “First Kill” whilst other tracks such as “On A Sea Of Blood” show off Amon Amarth’s true skill for fast-paced, hard-hitting music. All of this whilst never losing track of their narrative goals as a concept album.

Raise Your Horns” seems destined to become a live favorite with memorable riffs and the call to “drink to glory tonight.” The up-tempo “On a Sea of Blood” alternates nicely between ominous heaviness and dexterous guitar fills. “At Dawn’s First Light” is a true war face track, full of angst, violence and instantly makes you feel as if you’re a small army preparing for brutality.

If you’re looking for a new death metal band, be prepared to hear commanding growls that will plough straight through you, whilst thunderous drums pummel you senseless. Jomsviking has a great mix of fast and slower songs, mixed with heavier death metal moments as opposed to typical Viking metal.

Amon Amarth have changed the game, mixing it up for all bands within death metal and Viking metal with quite possibly the groundbreaking album of their career to date. Jomsviking.

February 2016 – Music Releases Review

Posted on

February has been a mixed bag of ups and down for music lovers. Whilst there’s been a lot of rubbish released and little in the way of hidden gems have stood out. A few little starlets have left a lasting impression that’s worthy of being recognised and rewarded.

One band that needs to be mentioned and also perfectly sums up February is Simple plan. Their latest release Taking One For The Team is in parts a pop punk spectacle, reminiscent of the early noughties. Yet sadly in others is the two-headed monster of Disney’s High School Musical having a one night stand with failed chart artists aspiring to be the next Maroon 5 or R Kelly. Mix this up with no angst, edge or even the slightest bit of balls then you have this album. Something for everyone that pleases no one. Until you have listened you simply can’t fully understand.

Now to the good stuff…

3rd place – Entombed ADDead Dawn

Dead Dawn is the complete opposite of Simple Plan. Full Balls to the wall, beginning to end. (The one and only time we will ever compare Simple Plan and Entombed. promise!)

Dead Dawn carries on from its predecessor’s record with heavy hitting punches full of death metal, thrash, punk and hardcore. If you want music that is spewing with ferocity, you’re in the right place. The Swedish four-piece have continued to create their legacy with destructive guitar riffs, vocals filled with such deep doomful growls and drums to set the tempo perfectly for everything else in between.

Songs “Down To Mars To Ride” and “As The World Fell” are two standout performances amongst 10 pull no punches tracks. These two tracks in particular are full of gore, slogged out riffs, punishing extended growls and enough bogged down doom riffs to kill a small army of nursery infants.

Dead Dawn is forty minutes of pummeling Swedish death metal filled with rock and roll angst and gruesome grueling guitar tones. True blood spewing heavy metal riffs entwined with nauseous hardcore, stomp-ready breakdowns. True ‘fuck you and this world’s acceptance’ music.

For Fans Of: Entombed, Slayer, Goatwhore

2nd place – Monster TruckSittin’ Heavy

Yet another great follow up record has come in the way of Monster Truck’s Sittin’ Heavy. The Canadian rockers have produced a surprisingly good album filled with Soul, Groove, Funk, Stoner Rock, Blues and just straight up classic Rock ‘n’ Roll. These guys have it all covered.

Imagine the kind of music to feature in the legendary series Sons Of Anarchy, then you can understand the type of top notch easily listening rock and roll blues this album features. Without being disrespectful to the band, this is true biker music… it flows fell, is catchy and chilled yet still has classic moments of fast-paced, high-octane, galvanizing melodies. The record blends well with speed and tone without making the listener’s mood fluctuate too much.

A true rock and roll powerhouse record from a band that is criminally underrated. Just try putting this record on and not breaking out that dusty yet still mud stained denim jacket, or booze covered leathers from your youth. A guaranteed album to get stuck on repeat in your car!

Stand out tracks come in the way of “She’s a Witch”, “New Soul” and “The Enforcer”. All the kind of get going tracks which will have you wind-milling and air-guitaring like you’re Hendrix, Angus Young or Eddie Van Halen.

Monster Truck’s Sittin’ Heavy will be sitting pretty as the best blues rock and roll album of 2016 come the end of December.

For Fans Of: The Temperance Movement, The Black Keys, Curtis Stigers, The Forest Rangers, The White Buffalo

1st Place – CreeperThe Stranger (EP)

Ladies and Gentlemen… Please acquaint yourself with the hottest up and coming band in the world. Creeper.

The horror-punk sextet from Southampton has set the world ablaze with just three dazzling EP’s. No Album insight either. Building on excellence with each EP they release, as well as signed up to Road Runner Records, Creeper have amazingly raised the bar yet again with The Stranger.

To some up the sound of this breath of fresh air, would be to merge together My Chemical Romance, R.E.M, Andy Black, Meat Loaf and Milk teeth. A true unique and thrilling sound to the 2015/2016-rock world.

Thanks to the genius songwriting of Will Gould and enthusiastic drumming of Dan Bratton, you are looking/listening to a band that has the creativity only few can produce. For a band so early into their career, Creeper is showing the same artistic attitude and maturity to follow in the paths of David Bowie or Prince.

The Stranger experiences everything from flamboyant Goth rock, to horror show punk rock ballads. By the end of this EP you will be apart of a tribal movement for one of the best up and coming dramatic, gloom, Goth, punk bands ever to step foot on this earth.

There are two standout tracks on this EP. “Black Mass”, filled with the speed and tempo that meets the sing along melodies of R.E.M, whilst “The Misery” is a musically stripped-down bonafide classic filled of sorrow. “Misery” shows Will Gould’s songwriting craft via his mixture of performing fragility yet flourishing power. An emotional masterpiece like no other!

Despite having just fourteen songs to their name, Creeper’s evolution is already one for the ages. By the time that debut LP rears its head, they may well be the one of the country’s most vibrant and vital new bands. We may have a new cult following on our hands.

For Fans of: AFI, My Chemical Romance, R.E.M, David Bowie.

Deftones Unveil ‘Smile’ In Memory Of Chi Cheng

Posted on

Image

Sunday 13 April Marked the one-year anniversary of Deftones bassist Chi Cheng’s death. In honour of their late friend, the band have released one of the last songs they ever recorded with him. ‘Smile’. Throughout 2008, the band from Sacramento, California, had been recording the shelved album Eros, which “Smile” is taken from. Eros was planned for release in 2009, however, never saw the light of day as Cheng was in a car collision in November 2008. Sadly Chi Cheng was in a coma from then on until his death in April 2013.

With Cheng in a coma after his incident, Deftones went on to release two albums without him. 2010 saw the release of Diamond Eyes, whilst 2012 bought us Koi No Yokan. Both albums were recorded with help from Sergio Vega who was bought in to play bass in place of Chi Cheng.

On sunday, lead singer Chino Moreno took to his own personal Twitter and the band’s Facebook to post the song ‘Smile’. The song was posted alongside the message Chi, We miss you today and everyday.” -deftones.

“Smile” shows both the positivity and negativity through the sweeping atmospherics and beautifully haunting vocals of Chino Moreno. The song clearly held a lot of emotion when first recorded. Now with the passing of Chi, it has only become harder and more heartfelt for the band. Lyrics such as “smile, you’re born again” and “Do you feel love” makes the song feel as if it has been written personally for Chi’s passing, even though it was written back in 2008. However, no matter what the song was meant to summarise, it will surely be known as Chi’s song from now on. It is also one of the last ever tracks to feature Chi Cheng on bass.

There has been no official plans made as of yet regarding an official release for Eros; but the track uploaded by Chino Moreno has already been removed by Warner Bros. However, there are still alternative videos of the song all over the internet for you to listen to.

Deftones lost a big part of their history in Chi Cheng and “Smile” fits as a touching tribute to one of their best friends who they played alongside for many years. R.I.P Chi Cheng. Gone, but not forgotten.

Deftones will be back in the UK this summer to play Sonisphere Festival at Knebworth Park. Don’t miss what will most definitely be a standout set of the weekend when the alternative metallers take to the stage.

Bury Tomorrow Release ‘Man On Fire’!

BURYTOMORROW_260313_108_USE_small

Bury Tomorrow have teased fans with the release of their first single, from album number three, ‘Runes’. If ‘Man Of Fire’ doesn’t get you excited for their new album, then god knows what will!

Fans were lucky enough to get an early release of the single after the band decided to treat their fans for getting ‘Runes’ to number 1 the iTunes Metal & AmazonUK  pre-order charts. The song had its 1st play on Daniel P Carter’s Radio 1 rock show  (25th Feb) which resulted in a twitter frenzy of fans singing the bands praises for their efforts. Whilst the song had it’s 1st official play, the band uploaded the music video via Youtube. You can watch the video below.

The metalcore band from Southampton have put out a strong, brutal and captivating 1st song to what will hopefully be the bands game changing album. A record which will hopefully make them frontrunner’s in their genre alongside bands like Parkway Drive, A Day To Remember and Bring Me The Horizon. With 2014 shaping up for some interesting releases from the metal world, you have to believe that with a single like this to represent ‘Runes’, Bury Tomorrow must surely have much more in the tank.

Lead singer Daniel Winter-Bates has commented that the record is much heavier and faster than anything they’ve done before. He also commented that with the addition Kristan Dawson (lead guitar), the band was able to include much more technical guitar riffs into their style. This is clear from soon to be hit ‘Man On Fire’ as it holds a much more throughly produced sound. The single has quite a large Killswitch Engage feel to it. A band that are a clear influence on Bury Tomorrow.

The vocals variety between Daniel Winter-Bates and clean vocalist/guitarist James Cameron is still present in ‘Man On Fire’ and allows the song to flow well. The heaviness you hear comes in like a torpedo whilst Dan puts his feel on the single. James also manages to keep the song at a high tempo with catchy choruses and well structured rhythm guitar sectioned riffs.

Fans alike will be on the edge of their seats waiting for May to roll round when album ‘Runes’ is released. But if that’s too far away, then the 1st single is already available for download via iTunes.

Bury Tomorrow will also head out on tour in May, kicking things off in Belfast on May 17th. They will also feature at this year’s Slam Dunk festivals as well as playing at Download Festival later on in the summer. Expect to hear big riffs, raw screams and great choruses from the album which will surely be ever-present in their future set lists. You won’t regret seeing them!

To wrap this up, it is  clear the band are making a name for themselves, due to the fantastic production and end product with regards to filming for new single ‘Man On Fire’.

Top 10 Albums of 2013! Part 1 of 2!

Posted on

So the end of 2013 is fast approaching. We’ve had some great albums been released over the last 12 months! Some old favorites returned, some newcomers marked their territory. If 2013 was anything to go by who knows what’s install for 2014! Here’s my countdown of my personal top 10 albums of the year.

10. Chvrches – The Bones Of What You Believe

Image

Chvrches are a Scottish Synthpop band from Glasgow, who broke onto the scene this year after the release of their “Recover” EP back in march. The band came 5th in the “BBC’s Sound of 2013 list” this is a list of the most promising new music talent. Ever since, the band has grown in popularity and in September they released their debut album; The Bones Of What You Believe. This album is a great introduction of what is to come in the future from such a young and promising band! Every track catches you with each synth-induced note. Mix that in with the tremendously warming voice of Lauren Mayberry and you have a catchy album full of tunes. The band’s debut album was well received by many, scoring high marks with publicists such as NME who gave them a solid 8/10. Key tracks to look out for are “The Mother We Share”, “We Sink” and “Recover”.

9. Chase & Status – Brand New Machine

 Image

Brand New Machine is third studio album by British drum and bass duo Chase & Status. After performing extensively to crowds around the world and at major festivals such as Glastonbury and Reading Festival; it was time for the lads to put out their eagerly awaited album. From the very beginning of the record the duo have you wanting to rave within seconds. The album starts with the heavier drum and bass sound before weaving in and out with tracks that can be classed as house music whilst others lean towards dance club hits. Chase & Status hit the nail on the head with this album as the variety of tracks keep their audience at constant party tempo. The album is full with of guest appearances which allows for different artists from other genre’s to put their mark on the Chase & Status produced beats in a professional manner. Featuring artists include Major Lazer, Pusha T, Nile Rodgers, Louis M^ttrs and many more. It’s fair to say the album symbolises a strong output from highly talented pair.

8. Daft Punk – Random Access Memories

 Image

Possibly one of the most anticipated albums of the last decade. Yes, it took eight years for the release of Random Access Memories but we finally got it! I think it’s safe to say it was definitely worth the wait. Featuring artists such as the loveable Pharrell Williams, Julian Casablancas, Giorgio Moroder and Nile Rodgers how could you not be impressed? Daft Punk had got in a special bunch of people to create an album that would go down in history. The major talking point of this record is the song “Get Lucky.” The single reached the top ten in the music charts of over 32 countries, and has sold more than 7.3 million copies as of September 2013. Wherever you were, whatever you were doing, at some point you would have come across this track. In my opinion it is the song of 2013! And what a song Daft Punk had released to show they were back! Taking over the world again. Other fantastic tracks from the French duo’s forth record are “Give Life Back To Music”, “Lose Yourself To Dance” and “contact.” Go see what all the hype was about! The hype is truly deserved.

7. Foals – Holy Fire

 Image

Foals have always been a band close to my heart. The math indie-rock band from oxford never manages to disappoint. With each release they come into their own more and more. Holy Fire, the bands 3rd studio album is no different. This is the album to put the band on the map! Foals released the LP back in February and features amazing songs such as “Inhaler”, “My Number” and “bad habit”. Better yet, these songs sound even better live. Even the album intro “prelude” is a storm brewed hit of shredding guitars enegising the crowd from the very beginning when played live!  Not only was this record a massive success but it also showed how sublime an act the band can be when it comes to playing headline shows! Foals headlined Latitude festival this year, their 1st major UK festival headline show. It’s safe to say it was show that managed to win best live set of the year 2013! I for one cannot wait to see what the future has install for such a thrilling UK band. Future Reading and Leeds headliners? Why not?

6. A Day To Remember – Common Courtesy

 Image

2013 marked the return of metalcore/pop-punk band A Day To Remember. The American rock band from Ocala, Florida self released their fifth studio album back on October 8th.  At this point the album was only available as a digital download before being released in physical copy over a month later on November 25th.  Before release, the album had been widely anticipated. Recalling the band’s fans response to “Violence (Enough Is Enough)”, Lead singer Jeremy said “it was one of the best responses we’ve ever had coming out of the gate. I can’t tell you how excited that made all of us.” The album debuted on the UK Album Chart at number 34, but reached number 1 on the UK Rock & Metal Albums Chart. Common Courtesy is the perfect album to represent a band such as these lads. The album starts and finishes strong with big riffs, crazy vocals and everything in-between. The album includes a bit of everything. Pop punk, Metal, Hardcore and even acoustics! The lads have done their fans and the world proud. Key songs on the album are “City Of Ocala”, “Right Back At It Again”, “Sometimes You’re The Hammer, Sometimes You’re The Nail” and “I Surrender”! In fact every single track is truly amazing! Go listen to it for yourselves! If it weren’t for a year of such strong releases, then this surely would have been my number 1.

Stay tuned for part 2 which should be up within the next couple of days! Some great albums and artists coming up! But who will be number 1?

REVIEW! Avenged Sevenfold : Hail To The King

Posted on

Record Label: Warner Brothers

ImageRelease Date: August 23, 2013

Rating:  7.5/10

Buy it at: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/hail-to-king-deluxe-version/id672046420

Metal has been crying out for a revival for years. Acts that can have a prolonged career instead of a hype album that will only have its five minutes of fame. ‘Hail To The King’ is Avenged Sevenfold’s sixth studio album. They have took the fans by storm, proving they are definitely no “one trick pony” with the album going straight to number one in six different countries.

The commercially and critically successful album by the lads from California has taken an almost bittersweet victory. The album marks it’s first number one album not to feature it’s original drummer Jimmy ‘The Rev’ Sullivan, who sadly passed away in December 2009. It goes without saying that Jimmy played a major part in the band, writing, producing and even singing on many of their albums. Many worried the band would lose that creative spark that Jimmy had but the band has proved they can still produce the goods without him. The album fits as a touching tribute to a man who was loved and respected by many. The bonus track of the album is in honour of Jimmy being named “St. James.” The lyrics speak of the pain felt since his death, but also suggest a feeling of gratitude and happiness that they got to play alongside their late friend. It’s very emotional.

It’s clear to see Avenged Sevenfold have taken major influences from bands such as Metallica, Guns N’ Roses and Pantera on previous records, but as great as their previous record ‘Nightmare’ was, you can really tell they have come into their own and found their feet without their fallen brother. Lead singer Matt Shadow’s vocals and lyrics have become much more raw and commanding over the last three years since ‘Nightmare’. On the opening track ‘Shepard Of Fire’; Matt catches the audience straight away with devilishly toned lyrics such as “I can promise you paradise, no need to serve on your knees.” The chugs of Zacky’s guitar will create an arsenal of head bangers from the off. Every shred of the guitar invites you in saying “Now this is metal! Metallica who?”

Now all us Avenged Sevenfold fans know this wouldn’t be an album without a few anthems and ballads. Well, you’re in luck. The lads have delivered yet another high level of tunes to sooth your ears. ‘Acid Rain’ produces the goods on the ballads prospective. Lengthy spine tingling solos causing chills as cold as ice, added with satanic whispered lyrics in the heartfelt verses make it a classic. On the other hand the title track ‘Hail To The King’ is exactly what it says on the tin, a bloodletting bouncy feel along with Crashing drum beats and guitar riffs that will spark any mosh pit into life.

It’s fair to say this album is up there with the rest of their back catalogue of classics. An album that is actually deserving of a number one slot unlike most crap produced these days.

Avenged Sevenfold will headline Download Festival 2014 next summer, on the back of the release of Hail To The King and a recent successful UK Arena tour in which they sold out multiple dates.

Download 2014!

Posted on Updated on

Image

Its that time of year again. Winter’s drawing in and everybody is long into their festival blues. People have begun to claim back their dignity they may have lost over the wild weekends away listening to bands all over the country. Drinking warm cider and living off over priced festival food is a memory of the past once again for a few months. Until now.

As always Download are 1st to lay down some names on their bill for next years bash; with what looks to be a very promising and exciting lineup. This week music fans were lucky enough to get 7 announced for next year’s 12th annual festival.

Monday rolled round allowing Andy Copping and Co to announce the 1st two acts for the festival. Avenged Sevenfold were announced as Friday night headliners with support coming from Rob Zombie. This comes as no surprise to Download regulars who felt this was going to be the year they would headline due to the recent release of “Hail To The King”, a UK arena tour just around the corner and the support slot under the mighty System Of A Down back in 2011 adding to their credentials. The decision to book the Californian band however has been met by acceptance and outrage with many believing the band has lost their edge. None the less, Avenged have earned their headline spot at Download festival and they will surely put on a great show including hits such as nightmare, unholy confessions and Bat Country just to name a few.

Tuesday’s announcement was next and boy did it deliver. Linkin Park are headlining the Saturday night on the main stage; performing debut album Hybrid Theory in full! This set is a guarantee to go down in Download history! This announcement was met with many ecstatic fans in sheer disbelief of what is to come at Download’s next bash. Fall Out Boy were announced as supports for Linkin Park on the Saturday which is a strong support, yet their announcement was left to be overshadowed due to the news released earlier on. Hybrid Theory is an album seen worldwide as getting many music fans into genre’s such as metal, rock and nu-metal going platinum in most countries around the globe. This will be a set you should not miss. Key tracks to look out for will be Papercut, Crawling and In The End.

Download’s third announcement fell on Wednesday to even more joy with fans hearing the news of three bands being announced throughout the day. Traditionally Download festival books a headliner that is seen more as a retro/older sort of band to close the festival. Donington Park will play host to America’s greatest Rock band… Aerosmith! That’s right. The bad boys from Boston will Headline and close Download 2014 on the Sunday night. This booking is one that does not come round often and when it does it can be seen as a true bucket list act. Chances like this do not come around often to see such a star studded act. The support act for Aerosmith was also announced. Alter Bridge will take to the main stage beforehand playing songs from the their recently released fourth album “Fortress.” This band is yet another who are deserving of their position on the Download poster under Rock hero’s Aerosmith.

With all main stage headliners and supports being announced. Andy Copping let on to a surprise announcement to follow later in the day. Dying Fetus is to play the festival next summer after what can only be seen as internet banter amongst festival booker Andy Copping and trolls of the internet who suggested the band in outbursts to announcement of Avenged Sevenfold being booked. The hash tag #WhyNotDyingFetus took Twitter and the internet by storm with many jumping onto the bandwagon of the joke which eventually resulted in the band being booked and completing the week’s announcement of acts.

Tickets are now on sale and the next announcement is to follow in the upcoming weeks. It’s safe to say Download has managed to attain a fantastic lineup full of bands that are sure to play some magnificent sets in 2014. Rock on!
